Dear Friend,
Welcome to the first eNewsletter for LAHH!

Thank you for joining our effort in making the dream
of LAHH come true! On March 6th we celebrated our
first anniversary of incorporation! The little seed
that was planted a year ago has begun to blossom and
we want to keep watering it with you.
The big news is that I will be looking for
employment as a janitor. This will give me the
skillsets necessary to be able to effectively train
our future employees to become janitors and to begin
offering our janitorial service in the community.
We
also started planning our first annual fundraising
dinner and concert scheduled for Fall 2008 with the
help of our wonderful Loyola Marymount University
volunteers.
We are looking forward to carrying on our mission
and keeping you up-to-date on our progress because
we believe that we are walking side by side with you
in this endeavor! Please take a look at "On The
Road" to read about the exciting events that
happened in February.
Thank you to our donors for all their support to us
and our community.
I want to extend my appreciation to Mauro Prina,
Secretary, and Nancy Albin, Treasurer, for their
work on the Board of Directors.
Please feel free to forward this Newsletter to your
friends and loved ones who may be interested in
supporting our mission!
Cordially,
Guido Piccarolo

Guido and Mr. Walker during the NISH training
session in San Diego
|
Guido has been on the road traveling to NISH
conferences and meeting with potential candidates and
partners. In February, he was in San Diego, California
attending a 3-day training class entitled "Custodial
University" organized by
NISH. During this class he was introduced to the
(OS1) program. (OS1) is a complete Custodial Operations
Management System which was developed during the past
two decades by Mr. John Walker and his associates at
ManageMen. LAHH is committed to adopting this system
to carry on its mission in creating and maintaining job
opportunities in the janitorial field for persons with
mental and physical disabilities.
Guido and I had a very positive meeting with Ms.
Danielle Heck at the

Nancy with Mr. Brandon and Ms. Gasso of EDD |
Harbor Regional Center. We were thrilled to meet
such a competent and encouraging partner in Ms. Heck. We
also met with Mr. William Brandon of the
Employment Development Department. Mr. Brandon's
enthusiasm for a program that will aid the disabled
veterans he services was exciting. Both of these
meetings have enabled us to form two strong partnerships
that will bear the first fruits when prospective
candidates for employment are interviewed starting in
the Summer of 2008. |

Affiliation
and Volunteering |
We are excited to announce the new
affiliation and collaboration between the Center for
Service and Action of Loyola Marymount University (LMU)
and LAHH.
Guido met with Ms. Lorena Chavez and Ms. Maria Alderete, who
work in the Center for Service and Action at LMU.
From this
meeting, LAHH became one of several companies
highlighted in a undergraduate entrepreneurial
class. Students taking a class geared towards
tomorrow's entrepreneurs, can pick from a list of
companies that have offered a specific project for
these students to complete in one semester's time.
These five women picked LAHH as their company with
the project being a fundraising dinner.

We want to acknowledge Michelle Stein, Jessica
Hyman, Lalindri Silva, Sierra Smith, and Lauren
Olsen. These five outstanding, brilliant, and hard
working young women,
undergraduate
students at LMU, are putting together the
logistics, marketing, sponsorship, and event
participation for the fundraising dinner.
