LOS ANGELES HABILITATION HOUSE

We are a 501c(3) nonprofit social enterprise, offering employment and career opportunities to individuals with disabilities and other barriers to employment. We were born in 2007 and hired our first employees with disabilities and other barriers in 2008. And never looked back! :)

Our Mission is to create and maintain job opportunities for people with disabilities in order that they might develop, express, and apply their talents through their work and in their communities.

Employment, coupled with training before and during employment, within a supportive work environment helps each person to discover, use, and improve their talents, their desire for creativity, and ultimately for knowing and becoming more themselves. This approach has also shown to be linked with longer career experiences, i.e. maintaining the job.

Our Statement of Value is that“We believe that the passion to fulfill ourselves informs how we live our lives and work at our jobs. We want to promote a society that helps everyone fulfill their real needs: truth, beauty, happiness, love and justice. In doing so, we can be ourselves and treat others with unconditional love and respect for their human dignity. We need a “house” like a child needs a family to be helped, educated, corrected and supported. We need a “house” that will continually reawaken the will to work, to take changes, to invent. We need a “house” that will prevent an individual from becoming alienated and cynical.  We dedicate the Los Angeles Habilitation House to this mission.”

Here's a short movie about our work.

You feel a sense of ‘family’ that often many individuals with disabilities long for, the sense of belonging to a family.
